Former Senior Coordinator for Defense Policy, Israel National Security Council
Limor Ben-Har joined the Center as a Senior Fellow in June 2007. In this capacity, she plays a major role in the Center's projects relating to international and national security. These include the Project on National Security Reform; the Afghanistan Study Group; and the Economic Development and Interfaith Cooperation Initiative in Israel and Palestine.
Prior to her work at the Center, Limor served as Senior Coordinator for Defense Policy at the Israel National Security Council. At the INSC, she played a key role in the planning and implementation stages of the Disengagement Plan, which withdrew Israel's presence from the Gaza Strip and parts of the West Bank in the summer of 2005. She also advised the Israel National Security Advisor on weapons of mass destruction non-proliferation issues; contributed to and edited several parts of the National Net Assessment document produced by the Israel National Security Council; and coordinated a range of inter-agency processes.
Before taking her position at INSC, Limor served as an intelligence analysis officer in the Israeli Defense Forces, where she achieved the rank of Captain. Her experience also includes teaching military strategy at Tel Aviv University, quantitative analysis at the University of Michigan, and research on transnational terrorism networks for the University of Michigan.
Limor holds a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Michigan's Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, where she focused on international and security policy and on quantitative policy analysis, as well as an MA (magna cum laude) and a BA in Political Science from Tel Aviv University, where she concentrated on diplomatic studies and international relations.
