GEORGE J. McFADDEN
CSP Research Fellow

George McFadden is a non-resident Research Fellow for Counterterrorism at the Center. His research focuses on strategic communications as an integral part of counterterrorism efforts, extremist ideology analysis and mapping, and methods for achieving comprehensive social and cultural depth in public diplomacy initiatives. In addition to his fellowship at the Center, Mr. McFadden works as a consultant to the federal government, where he evaluates the use of media and communications technologies by extremist groups and terrorist networks.

Previously, Mr. McFadden spent 25 years in the international commercial communications sector with companies such as NEC, MCI, and Qwest Communications. He also worked on computer and communications systems for the Saudi Arabian government. Prior to his current consulting position, he served as Communications Director for the Wireless Communications Association International, the non-profit trade and professional association for the wireless broadband industry. Mr. McFadden lived in Morocco for five years where he served as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer for three years and an NGO operations coordinator and trainer for two years.

Mr. McFadden is currently completing graduate studies in International Relations and Homeland Security at Salve Regina University. He received his B.A. in English and French from Rhode Island College. He attended Universite Laval in Quebec, P.Q., Canada for advanced French language training. He subsequently took pre-service and in-service Arabic language training as part of his Peace Corps service.
